What is Shiatsu?

According to the Ministry of the Health of Japan, Shiatsu technique refers to the use of fingers and palm of one’s hand to apply pressure to particular sections on the surface of the body for the purpose of correcting the imbalances of the body, and for maintaining and promoting health. It is also a method contributing to the healing of specific illnesses (discomfort, pain, stress, nervous disorders, etc.), activating the self-cure capacity of the human body. Shiatsu does not have any side effects.

From the philosophical point of view?

The “Ki” (energy that normally moves through the nature) flows through the body by a set of channels. For many reasons, the Ki stops flowing freely and accumulates, and this accumulation produces some symptom. The Shiatsu technique includes stretching, levering and inclination of the weight on various parts of the body in order to promote harmony in the circulation, flexibility and postural integrity. A lot of the Shiatsu techniques are applied on the same system of energy channels or meridians used in acupuncture, although in Shiatsu each channel covers a major area of the body.

How is the YOSHI METHOD different from the Shiatsu?

The YOSHI METHOD is based on Shiatsu, therefore they have many aspects in common. Shiatsu is an excellent technique that originally comes from Japan. We have fused it with some other techniques which have consistently proven to be effective to the clients.

What is the true nature of pain?

The pain itself always follows a pattern. It can be an acute pain that occurs suddenly, and when it’s not treated, it becomes chronic. In the same way, there are cases of chronic pain which cause remains unknown. In other cases, the pain is only a symptom. If we go to the hospital because of the pain for a medical checkup, they will prescribe some analgesic for your pain or give you guidelines to follow for the rehabilitation.

However, although the doctor specifies the illness, we still have the pain which irritates us. The YOSHI METHOD deals with this kind of situation. In order to take away the pain, we have experimented the restoration of the natural balance of the human body, as is conceived in the Chinese medicine.

Because of this reason, we do not try to alleviate the pain temporarily thorugh medicines, but to eliminate the pain by making our every-day life more comfortable and enhancing our state of mind.

Does it hurt?

No. The YOSHI METHOD does not, and should not hurt at any moment. If it should say “hurting”, it means “comfortable pain”, which is a kind of pain that is only light and comfortable and relaxes the patient. It only means satisfaction.

What does the YOSHI METHOD cure?

The YOSHI METHOD itself does not cure anything. However, it facilitates to deal with different kinds of symptoms and helps the patient to get better. The YOSHI METHOD is efficient especially in the psychosomatic diseases related to the stress, anxiety and depression, such as the symptom of the kidney and the liver.

Some of the symptoms we take care of are as follows:

  • Backache
  • Migraine
  • Neck injury and rigidity on the neck
  • Reduced mobility
  • Menstrual pain
  • Digestive problems
  • Symptoms of asma
  • Sport injury
  • Depression

What’s more, the sessions will be completed by some exercise and cares that Yoshi will show to each patient, so that they can practice them at home.

Indeed, often health problems come from a bad quality of life or internal discomfort, which the YOSHI METHOD will help to change.

What does not the YOSHI METHOD cure?

The YOSHI METHOD is contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Grave or infections diseases
  • Malignant tumors
  • Envenomization (snake, insect)
  • Acute Inflammations (peritonitis, apendicitis)
  • Bleeding Illnesses (gastritis or duodenitis)
  • Traumas (fractures, deep wounds)
  • Illnesses of interior organs (valvulares agudas, nephritis)
  • Illnesses of the circulation (aneurysm, acute arterial sclerosis)
  • Tuberculosis
  • ETS
Does the YOSHI METHOD have some good effect on psychologically-oriented problems?

Yes, it does. A great number of medical and psychological studies confirm that there exists a direct relation between our mind and body. In spite of the fact that we offer psychological orientation, the YOSHI METHOD is based on relaxing the brain and the central nervous system, inducing active secretion of some hormons that produce optimism and serenity. All this method along with the use of aroma, light and music has demonstrated its efficacy in enhancing the situation of the clients who had psychological-oriented problems.

I'm not feeling good, but I'm not sick, either. Can I do something?

Nowadays, if they don’t have a specific name to an illness, they do not consider the person to be sick. That’s why they have the tendency to leave the person as they are, with pain and little energy left. This situation leads to this well-known comment: “You go to the hospital, and although the origin of the discomfort is stress, the doctor tries to solve your problem by prescribing tablets”.

The truth is, you have some pain or discomfort and, whether you like it or not, it has some repercussion in your daily activities. There is no reason to give up, and no reason to lead certain days of your life feeling a great distraction becasue of depression. In Yoshi’s Clinic, the message is crystal clear Don’t give up!

Many of the pains have its origin in muscular contractions, so it’s not a big problem for the YOSHI METHOD. The collapse of the nervous system can be cured by stimulating the muscle. Although the doctor may not spot it out, irritation, heaviness of the body, collapse or chronic bad temper often have their origin in muscular contraction. No need to think the problem resides in the person.

Does the YOSHI METHOD substitute my home doctor?

In no case the YOSHI METHOD can substitute the diagnosis of a doctor. However, it can be an ideal complement for certain treatments.

In some cases, Yoshi, with the tactile sensibility which he gained through many years of practice, can detect the possible existence of illnesses. Some of them are grave, which leads the patient to see his/her doctor, to receive early treatment, and recover from the illness.

Why do you examine the health condition of the patient?

In each session, the therapeutist will treat different clinical aspects of the patient, which may be symptoms of some illness or preventive actions. For this purpose, it’s essential to have a global vision of the health state of the patient, his discomforts and his priorities. This evaluation will enable us to follow a personalization of the patient’s treatment, and it is indispensable in the medium and long-term therapies.

How many sessions will it be necessary to have?

The time required for taking away the pain always varies depending on the person. Therefore, we would not dare to give exact number. However, Yoshi has an objective of taking away any kind of discomfort as quickly as possible.

The norm is as follows:

  • Backache or shoulder pain (on a light or normal level): One session
  • Sciatica: 3 sessiones
  • Psichologically originated problems

At the same time, Yoshi will give you guidelines about how to improve the diet, posture and will recommend exercise that you can do at home. In this way, we are happy that the very clients participate in the process of betterment, in which Yoshi will be more than happy to share his knowledge and skills.
